The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program is funded by the United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration and administered by the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT). The program was created to ensure nondiscrimination in the award of Federally assisted contracts, create a level playing field, help remove barriers, and assist certified Maine DBE firms compete successfully in the marketplace.
The DBE Program provides certified DBE companies with substantial benefits, including being listed in the MaineDOT and DBE Supportive Services Directories which are distributed among prime contractors and consultants throughout New England. Certified Maine DBEs receive information regarding upcoming MaineDOT projects and have access to the Maine DBE Supportive Services program.
The Statewide Maine DBE Supportive Services program is hosted by Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) located in Bangor, Maine. The program includes a Business Services Specialist to help certified Maine DBEs grow their business and obtain new work with the MaineDOT. Services available for certified Maine DBEs include business and technical assistance, tuition reimbursement, website development, and more.
